Yogya Kembali Monument Museum is a museum of the history of the struggle for independence of the Republic of Indonesia in Yogyakarta, and is managed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The museum is located in the northern part of the city is visited by students in the event of an excursion
Why this is called “unique”?
WoW…this monument has unique shape, right? It has cone shape, with the pool around it…
The museum consists of three floors and is equipped with a library and a ballroom. At the entrance shutter written some 422 names of fallen heroes in Wehrkreise III region between December 19, 1948 until June 29, 1949. 4 spaces in the museum on the 1st floor there is a collection of objects : replicas, photographs, documents, various types of weapons, a soup kitchen in the form of evocative atmosphere of the war of independence from 1945 to 1949. Litters and carts ( horse carriage ) which is never used by the Great General Commander Sudirman also stored here ( in the museum space number 2 ).
Yogya Kembali Monument was built on June 29, 1985 with a ceremonial planting buffalo head and laying of the first stone by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX and Paku Alam VIII. The idea to set up this monument raised by Colonel Soegiarto, as the Mayor of Yogyakarta in 1983. Name Yogya Back chosen with the intention of tetenger ( warning ) withdrawal of troops from the historical events of the capital of the Dutch occupation of Indonesia Yogyakarta at the time, dated June 29, 1949. This an early sign of the independent nation of Indonesia from the Dutch government power.
